Soccer: Sherwood gets a pair of victories to move to 7-0 on the season
SHERWOOD - The Sherwood High School girls soccer team keeps playing against tough competition.
And the Lady Bowmen keep on winning.
Sherwood kept its season-opening winning streak intact by powering its way to a 3-0 win over Crescent Valley in a non-league match played Monday at Sherwood High School.
'We're improving on defense and we're knocking the ball pretty well,' Sherwood coach Bill Brown said. 'The last three games we've played have been against the top three teams in the Mid-Willamette League, and we got wins over all of them.'
With the win, the Lady Bowmen, who hold the top spot in the OSAA RPI rankings, improved to 7-0 on the season. Crescent Valley dropped to 2-5 with the setback.
Junior forward Jessica Imbrie, senior defender Amanda Shelton and junior midfielder Michaela Pilkenton each scored a goal for the Lady Bowmen in the win over Crescent Valley.
Freshman forward Sarah Garoutte had a pair of assists in the win and senior midfielder Alex Teesdale added an assist.
Sherwood outshot the Raiders 25-2 in the contest, with the Bowmen defense holding Crescent Valley without a shot in the second half.
'Our defense has been very much improved,' Brown said.
Prior to the victory over Crescent Valley, Sherwood posted a 1-0 victory over West Albany in a non-league match played last Thursday at Sherwood High School.
