BOYS SOCCER - Pair of second-half goals keep Central alone in first place
A new coach and plenty of new faces, but the Central Catholic boys soccer team still has the same target on its back. Long the standard for supremacy in the Mount Hood Conference, the Rams protected their spot as front-runners again this season with a 2-0 win at Barlow on Thursday night.
But the victory didn't come without a challenge.
The Bruins appeared to take a 1-0 lead into the half when Edde Diaz booted a ball from the top of the 18-yard box as the buzzer sounded. The ball left his foot in time, but was in mid-air when time expired making the ball dead before it entered the net.
The Rams (4-0-0) regrouped during the intermission and came up with goals by David Mack and Peter Bergmann for a 2-0 lead with about 25 minutes to play....
