State troopers find 26 pounds of marijuana in car on I-5
What started as a violation for talking on a cell phone while driving turned into a drug bust Sunday when Oregon State Troopers arrested a man for allegedly carrying 26 pounds of marijuana and two pounds of hashish in his car while passing through Tualatin.
Police say Harold Hay Saperstein, 43, of Seattle, was driving northbound on Interstate 5 at about 6:45 p.m., when a trooper pulled him over, said Oregon State Police spokesman Gregg Hastings.
During the stop, a drug-sniffing police dog discovered drugs concealed inside the car.
Saperstein was arrested on charges of unlawful possession and distribution of marijuana and hashish and lodged in the Clackamas County jail.
His bail was set for $100,000.
