Rudolph toy drive begins
Madras Kiwanis Club and Bright Wood employees are again doing the Operation Rudolph toy drive for needy area children.
The club is asking for donations of good, clean toys, games and books for Jefferson County children ages 1 to 15. Cash donations are also needed for clothing certificates for the older girls and boys.
Operation Rudolph collection boxes have been placed at the following Madras locations:
Ahern's Grocery and Deli, Safeway, Erickson's Sentry Market, Wells Fargo Bank, Columbia River Bank, Bank of the West, U.S. Bank, Community First Bank, Mountain View Hospital, Les Schwab Tires and the Trading Post.
This year, Kiwanis expects to deliver gifts to 300 to 400 kids at Christmas time.
Also, inside Columbia River Bank, there is a Mitten Tree, where people can donate warm gloves, mittens, caps and scarves. These will be delivered along with the Kiwanis Operation Rudolph toys. KSJJ Radio will link up with the Trading Post in a matching fund-raising campaign for the toy and fund drive.
Cash donations may be sent to: Madras Kiwanis Operation Rudolph, P.O. Box 65, Madras, OR 97741. For more information, call Darryll Smith at 475-9593, or Martin Zimmerman at 475-6589.
