Dress-up days, parade, dance highlight Forest Grove Homecoming
Vikings host Century High School for a football game Thursday, part of five days' worth of activities
It's Spirit Week at Forest Grove High school, leading up to the 2011 Homecoming game on Thursday.
Dress-up days are part of the fun. They are Mustache Monday, Dress Like Your Teacher Tuesday, '70s Wednesday and Would You Still Be My Friend if I Wore This Thursday. It's a contest to see which class has the highest percentage of participation, said student body president Kyle Brown.
The Homecoming parade is on Thursday, Oct. 13, starting from the Forest Grove School District office, 1728 Main St., at 4 p.m. The route turns left on 26th Avenue toward Harvey Clarke Elementary, winds right onto B Street and goes on to the high school. Immediately after the parade, a youth rally promoting acceptance of students labeled as 'different' will be hosted by the Partners Club at FGHS.
Also on Thursday, the Vikings host Century High School in the annual Homecoming football game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The theme of this year's Homecoming dance is 'Finding Neverland,' based on the story of Peter Pan and the joy of staying young forever. It's set for Friday, Oct. 14 from 8 to 11 p.m. at the high school. Cost is $10 per ticket, which may be purchased at the door.
