Taylor Northwest has announced plans to build four commercial rentals in the Jefferson Park Business Center.
In July of this year the development company purchased two lots. Fronting U.S. Highway 26, the property will be accessed by Andrews Road.
Todd Taylor of Taylor Northwest believes that the new buildings will suit small businesses or manufacturing, but refuses to narrow the scope of what is possible. "Any small businesses that can use 1,500 square feet, all the way up to 6,000," would be suitable, said Taylor.
Drawings provided by L.B. Engineering Inc. show overhead doors with the first story built in cut block and metal siding for the second story exterior. The axis of the buildings will run east to west. The commercial unit on the corner of Cherry Lane will have its front overhead doors facing south.
Henry Louke from L.B. Engineering Inc. expects to submit applications for building permits in the next few weeks. Construction can be expected to begin once the permits are secured.
Taylor believes that Madras is the next development frontier for Central Oregon. "I think the whole Central Oregon market has expanded dramatically throughout Bend and Redmond and now into Prineville. It can't help but have an effect on Madras," said Taylor.
Taylor revealed that their construction company, Hap Taylor and Sons, intends to bid on the infrastructure portion of the state prison that's been sited near Madras.
Of Madras, Taylor said, "I like the development opportunities being provided at this point. I think it's a diamond in the rough."
