The Jefferson County Livestock Association's 52nd Annual meeting and banquet will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, at Sonny's Dinner House in Madras, featuring Coy Cowart, past president of the Oregon Cattlemen's Association as its speaker.
The meeting will begin at 11 a.m., with general business, then a series of speakers on livestock-related topics including APHIS, a pilot program for animal I.D., and presenters from the Oregon Department of Agriculture and Mid Oregon Beef Co-op.
The banquet will begin at 6 p.m., with a no-host social hour, followed by a prime rib dinner at 7 p.m. At the dinner the recipients of the Supreme Beef Award, Special Recognition Award, and the 2004 Livestockman of the Year Award will be announced.
Featured speaker Cowart will give ranchers an update of the latest actions of the state organization and current trends in the cattle industry.
The cost of the banquet is $15 per person, and people are asked to RSVP by calling Candy at 475-3808 by Jan. 12, but may also attend without making reservations.
There will be door prizes, and a scholarship auction. The meeting and evening is planned to be entertaining and fun. It is a time to meet others who are also in the livestock industry and visit with friends and neighbors, organizers said.
