Business help

   To the Editor,
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office would like to thank three local businesses for assisting the county in a time of need. On August 14, 2004 a young man died during a boating accident on Lake Billy Chinook. Recovery efforts were extremely difficult due to the depth and numerous dives were conducted. The Three Rivers Marina allowed us to open a charge account and provided food and beverages to search teams. Ken Smith from Subway in Madras provided discounted sandwiches and chips. Lastly, Sharon and John Birdwell of Best Western Inn provided a free hotel room for dive personel. With these business help, and many others, we were able to recover the victim and provide his family with the closure they desperately sought. Thanks for helping.
