Roger Ernstrom leaves Centennial board

Replacement should be named by mid-December

Roger Ernstrom, who has served on the Centennial School District Board for 10 years, has resigned because he has taken 'a position that requires a time commitment that conflicts with board meetings,' the district said.

Sharlene Giard, board chairwoman, noted Ernstrom represented the board to the Oregon School Boards Association as well as Oregon School Activities Association. Ernstrom represented Position 1, Zone 1, on the Centennial board, and his latest term was due to end in June 2013.

'We will miss him on the board,' she said.

At the board's Wednesday, Oct. 12, meeting, the board will review the guidelines for filling the vacancy, Giard said. Information on how community members may apply for the board position should be available at centennial.k12.or.us/ and in the district's administration offices, 18135 S.E. Brooklyn St., by Thursday, Oct. 13.

The board hopes to appoint a new member by its Wednesday, Dec. 14, meeting, Giard said.
