Forty positions open on 13 special districts in May vote
A total of 40 positions on 13 special districts in Jefferson County will be up for grabs in the May 17 election, but only 11 people have filed.
The deadline for filing is just three weeks away, March 17, according to County Clerk Kathy Marston.
"We encourage them to file as soon as they can, because the districts like to make sure they have people who have filed for all the positions," she said.
Prospective candidates can either pay the $10 filing fee, or collect 25 signatures from registered voters within the special district. (Candidates for the Ashwood School District need only collect five signatures.)
