FOOTBALL - Scoring is on the rise for Friday nights this fall
Punters in the Mount Hood Conference may want to start bringing their homework to the sideline on Friday nights just so they'll have something to do this season. Teams are finding the end zones with ease, rolling up big numbers on the scoreboard and leaving kickers bored on the bench.
If you want to win games this season, you'll need to find the end zone and find it often. Three times this season, Reynolds has surpassed the 40-point barrier - and lost.
'Sometimes you just have one of those years where there are some good offenses,' Raiders coach Sean VanDeMerghel said.
The Raiders coach brought a spread passing attack to Reynolds last season, the goal being to score, score and score some more. In order to do that, he has his Raiders replicate the University of Oregon's fast-paced attack looking for big plays against tired defenses. One common practice drill calls for the offense to get off 20 plays in a 10-minute session....
