> The Madras Aquatic Center board has received only one bid of $8.2 million from Robinson Construction of Bend for construction of a pool and center.
Voters had approved an $8.1 million bond levy for construction of the center, and only $6.5 million of that was to be used for pool structure costs.
At the June 16 meeting, the board authorized project manager Mike Marino to negotiate with Robinson Construction to bring construction costs within budget.
"We are currently in negotiations with Robinson Construction on discrepancies between the cost and bid until the second week in July. If we can't come to a conclusion, we will go to bid in the next couple of months," Marino said, adding, "I'm confident we will be able to reach an agreement."
