Search continues for Madras youth

The family of a missing Jefferson County man is still searching for him.
Aaron Saldana, 20, has not been seen since June 1. He made several cell phone calls to family members on that day, leaving varied messages ranging from he planned to travel the country by foot to the potential of suicide.
One message to his mother, Jessica Saldana, sounded as if he was running and noted that he planned to be home that night.
"A lot of rumors are out there that Aaron has been found, and that's not the case," said his aunt, Leticia Notman. "People are taking posters down thinking he's okay. Please, keep the poster up, keep looking."
Notman said that Aaron Saldana's bank account has not been accessed since his disappearance, and his cell phone has not been used.
Early last Saturday morning, a ground search of a three-mile radius around the Metolius area, his last known location, was conducted. Hints from phone messages from him have led searchers to focus on canyons and railroads. However, nothing was found.
Saldana is 5-10, 185 pounds, and has a musical staff tattoo on a forearm.
The family is also raising funds to pay for a helicopter search. A fund has been established at the Madras branch of the Wells Fargo bank. To contribute any information or insight into the case, contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 475-2201.
