Jefferson County readies county fair

Four days of top entertainment, carnival fun and exhibits celebrating the county's bounty will begin when the Jefferson County Fair opens Wednesday, July 26.
   Don't miss the Fair Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday; two nights of action-packed rodeos at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Western dance at 9 p.m., Saturday, and Talent Show Wednesday and Thursday nights.
   Headlining this year's entertainment is country and Western star Josh Turner, who will perform at 9 p.m., Friday, July 28. His concert is free with your admission ticket to the fair.
   Ever wanted to bungee jump or go for a spin on a Segway vehicle? Now's your chance, since fair activity booths will feature those two items plus much more.
   Horse, Dog fairs this week
   Due to arena use, the Horse Fair and 4-H Dog Show will be held this week at the fairgrounds. Friday, July 21, showmanship, jumping, English equitation, dressage and other horse skills will begin around 9 a.m., in the main arena.
   On Saturday, July 22, horse events start at 9 a.m., featuring trail riding, bareback and Western equitation. In the Dog Show, which is at 9 a.m., Thursday and Friday, July 20-22, 4-Hers will put their canines through the paces before a judge. These events are free and spectators are encouraged to come.
