June Miller, age 79
   .
How long have you lived in Jefferson County, and what brought you here?
I came here in 1946 from Caldwell, Idaho, to be close to my boyfriend Loyal Miller. He was working clearing land for farmers just before the irrigation water came. We were married in April 1947.
What is the best aspect of living here?
The country itself and the people. I've always liked it here, no matter what the weather. And it was a good place to raise my kids. (She and Loyal live one mile south of Metolius).
What's your favorite way to spend a day?
Either knitting or crocheting. I knit nylon scrubbers and dish cloths and crochet handy-towels and baby blankets for the Saturday Market booth and for private people.
What are your hobbies, favorite TV shows, etc.?
I like to watch "The Price Is Right" and my hobby is being with the kids -- I do child care. Previously, we were foster parents for 33 years, and I managed the Hospital Thrift Store for many years.
   How many kids, grandkids?
We have four kids, Sharon Haag and Dan Miller, both of Madras, Christine Vender of Monument, and Linda Maebee who's a full-time RVer; 10 grandkids; and seven great-grandkids.
