Bulldog spikers win

A long volleyball day had its rewards for Culver as the Bulldogs won their first Tri-River match.
   Culver (1-6 league) defeated Delphian in four games on Tuesday, Sept. 19. It was part of a doubleheader in Salem as the Bulldogs also fell to Western Mennonite in three games. Two days later, Culver was swept at Scio.
   The Bulldogs beat Delphian 25-14, 14-25, 25-21, 25-22 to earn their first Tri-River victory of the season. Maria Ruiz led the offense with seven kills. Megan Hamlin and Taylor Thompson combined for nine aces.
   A 25-11, 25-19, 25-18 loss to Western Mennonite followed. Thompson had nine kills and Julie Altig three aces in the loss.
   At Scio, Ruiz had five kills and Cindy McCormack three. Altig served 12 of 12.
   Culver stays closer to home this week, hosting East Linn Christian on Thursday and traveling to the Madras Invite (see schedule in Scoreboard) this Saturday.
