Madras runners use pack attack

By running together, the Madras boys' cross country team finished third at the Nelson Memorial Invite at The Dalles on Thursday.
Freddy Hernandez and Andrew Flu led the way, finishing just five seconds apart on the 5,000-meter course. Hernandez was 10th overall and Flu 13th.
The White Buffalos earned third, at 97 points, as the trio of Lex Anguiano (18th), Brandon Thompson (21st) and Atcitty Begay (22) finished 28 seconds apart.
"We knew those three guys would be up there," Madras coach Lonnie Henderson said.
The girls also used the pack theme as Amber Lafayette (12th) and Brittany Devore (13th) finished four seconds apart. The girls' team was fifth.
Madras also ran at the Seaside Invitational with alternating courses. Hernandez was 20th and Flu 26th on the easy course. Their times and other results were unavailable.
