> The Madras boys' soccer team rallied once but not twice in the final nonleague matches this season.
The White Buffalos (3-2-1) finished up pre-Intermountain Conference action with a 2-1 loss at West Albany on Saturday. It followed a 5-all home match on Tuesday, Sept. 19 against Sisters.
IMC play starts for Madras by hosting Summit at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The match will be at Buffalo Stadium.
"The kids want league to start, but they know how tough this league is," Buff coach Paul Brown said. "They know they have to pick up their game."
At West Albany, the host Bulldogs led 2-0 on a goal in each half. Madras sliced into that lead with 10 minutes left on Pablo Felix's goal off a pass from Jansen Harrington.
"It was a tough match for us," Buff coach Paul Brown said. "It took us a half to adjust to their uneven field. They liked to play the ball in the air and there's a reason why they keep the ball in the air."
Brown added Madras had "plenty of great opportunities" in the second half.
Madras 5, Sisters 5: A match similar to the season opener, the Buffs fell behind quickly but rallied. Sisters, ranked No. 3 in the latest 4A coaches' poll, scored three goals in the opening 11 minutes.
In the season opener, Madras fell behind 2-0 in the first 19 minutes against Sherwood but won 5-2.
The Buffs came back with three goals by Felix, two on penalty kicks with the second one at the 74th minute. A Felipe Reynoso goal off a throw-in by Jovany Medina started Madras' comeback. Derrick Metcalf also added a tally to continue the Buff comeback.
