Cowdeo has thrills and spills
Thrills and spills again delighted crowds at the 38th annual Cowdeo at the Jefferson County Fairground Arena during the weekend.
Kids from ages 5 to 14 were able to test their rodeo skills on Saturday and Sunday. The youngest opened the action with mutton bustin', formally known as sheep riding. Even younger kids had their chance on the arena floor in the stick horse race. The youngest finished the Cowdeo with the chicken/rabbit scramble, discovering those small animals were quicker than they were.
For the older cowgirls and cowboys, it was a real rodeo with prizes in each event. The variety included barrel racing, calf riding, breakaway roping, flag racing and horseless roping.
