MHS girls' soccer ties IMC foe

If an Oregon high school soccer match was 76 minutes, the Madras girls would have left Crook County with a 1-0 win.
Instead, a soccer match lasts 80 minutes. It was enough time for the host Cowgirls to achieve a 1-1 tie against the White Buffalos in an Intermountain Conference match Thursday. The tie left both teams at 1-4-1 with one match to play.
Madras finished its season by hosting The Dalles in a Tuesday, Oct. 24 match (contested after press time).
Madras 1, Crook County 1: The Buffs led for most of the second half thanks to a goal late in the first half by Kaylee Ramey off a pass from Jessica Ramey.
"We had chances to score a second goal, but just couldn't convert," Madras coach Phil Smith said. "That second goal is so important in case the other team scores a fluke goal."
Crook County did score with three minutes left.
Mountain View 3, Madras 0: Under the lights of Buffalo Stadium, the Cougars scored two second-half goals in the Tuesday, Oct. 17 match.
