Family escapes house fire
A family of five was able to escape without injury after a blaze ignited in the attic of their Turner Street home and was fanned by high winds on Sunday.
"The cause is still under investigation, but the family got out OK," said Fire Capt. Bob Sjolund.
He said they were called to the fire around 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, and responded with three fire vehicles and 16 personnel.
"The high winds increased the fire and certainly hampered our efforts," Sjolund said.
The names of the family members are not yet being released, but Sjolund said there were two children, ages 5 and 2. The Red Cross is currently helping the people and anyone wanting information about donating or helping should call the fire department at 475-7274.
