MHS trio traveling to Croatia
Mock Trial Tour
The Classroom Law Project (which sponsors the Oregon Mock Trial) is also sponsoring a trip to Croatia this summer, and three local people have been chosen to go.
The selection was based on an essay contest entitled, "What Our Mock Trial Students Could Learn in Croatia."
Madras High teacher Suzanne Callahan, the Mock Trial coach, wrote the essay which won the chance for two students, Daniel Serrano and Jessica Pineda, to go to a Democracy Camp in Croatia.
Students from four other schools, Lincoln, Parkrose, Lakeridge, and St. Mary's in Medford, were also selected.
Each school will take one coach and two students on the trip from June 30 to July 7. The students will attend classes each weekday morning and prepare to put on a mock trial along with the Croatian students.
Students will also have the opportunity to travel with the Croatian students when not in class. On the final day, they will put on the mock trial before an audience using the Croatian system and the American system of justice.
The students are in the process of fund raising for the trip and each must raise $1,000. The students were selected from 21 students based on the MHS Mock Trial's own essay contest.
