Brad's Bait and Tackle opened March 1 in Madras, offering all types of fishing supplies, plus Frisbee golf gear.
Owners Brad Lovrien and Deanna Jividen still work their daytime jobs, and run the store in the afternoons.
Brad has delivered Frito-Lay products in the Madras area for over 20 years, while Deanna has worked 13 years for the DeLeone Corporation in Madras, then in Redmond when it moved there. The two met in 1999 and have been together ever since.
"We decided to start a hobby business to fill a niche after the Tri-Ts shop moved out of the area. We provide tackle that is unique to the Madras area," Brad said.
Brad's Bait and Tackle, at 408 Culver Highway in Madras, carries fishing rods, tribal fishing permits, life preservers, water toys, tents, sleeping bags, sunglasses, and other tackle, camping and marine supplies. Special orders are welcome.
In addition, there are convenience store items including pop, beer, ice, and snacks for those heading out to The Cove.
"We're also starting to carry some Frisbee golf supplies since we have a course in town, but no outlets locally for Frisbee golf discs," Brad said.
The tackle shop is open from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., on weekends. The business phone is 475-6892.
