Culver track wins relay meet

Every point mattered as Culver won the Oakridge Coed Relays on Saturday.
The Bulldogs scored 99 points, two ahead of Cascade Christian. Culver scored points in 18 of the 20 events, improving from second place last year after finishing third in 2005.
"Our kids worked hard for every point," Bulldog coach Brian Wache said. "Since sixth place was worth one point, that was the difference for us."
Culver won two relay events, the boys' sprint medley and coed 4x400. The Bulldog quartet of Tyler Warren, Nevin Lewis, Juan Gutierrez and Jack Pratt clocked 1 minute, 42 seconds with legs of 200, 100, 100 and 400 meters. The 4x400 team of Keeley Kinley, Linsey Fisher, Juan Vega and Travis Beebe won in 4:09.9.
Warren added a first in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet. His previous best was 12-0 although he's cleared 13-0 in practice, Wache said.
Culver added second places in the boys' distance medley (1200-400-800-1600) and girls' sprint medley. Joel Vega, Beebe, Gerald Speas and Juan Terrazas ran on the distance medley while Fisher, Kinley, McKaylee Speas and Iorbelit Gutierrez were on the sprint medley.
Culver returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to John Day for the Grant Union Small Schools meet.
