late rally didn't follow another for the Madras baseball team in Intermountain Conference action.
   The White Buffalos won at Bend 6-5 by scoring four runs in the sixth inning on Tuesday, April 3. A 4-3 loss followed Thursday with Madras unable to gain the lead.
   The split leaves the Buffs at 2-1 going into this week's IMC action, Madras played unbeaten Mountain View (1-0) on Tuesday, April 10 (played after press time). The Buffs also host Hermiston in a 2 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
   Summit 4, Madras 3: The Buffs seemed ready to take over the game in the third. Down 2-0, Bobby Thurby singles and trotted home on Jake Prow's home run to right field.
   Madras kept the pressure on after an out as Albert Adams singled and Ethan Adams reached base on an error. Then an infield out and strikeout ended the threat.
   The teams traded runs in the fourth, the Buffs taking advantage of a Summit error. Jansen Harrington singled and eventually scored on an error.
   Summit answered in the fifth on a run set up by a walk. The Storm owned an early 2-0 lead thanks to a first-inning triple and double in the second.
   Albert Adams and Jake Prow shared the Buff pitching duties. Prow kept Madras' hopes alive by wiggling out of a seventh-inning jam. Summit had two on with one out due to an error and walk. A ground out and strikeout ended the threat.
   Madras had a chance to tie the game as Ethan Adams was hit by a pitch with one out. Then two fly outs ended the game.
   Madras 6, Bend 5: The big rally came with two outs, after Ethan Adams' lead-off double.
   A walk by Austin Say and run-scoring single by Harrington scored the first run. An error followed, allowing Say to score. Prow and Darrell Ceciliani followed with singles to drive in the go-ahead runs. Ceciliani and Prow shared the pitching duties with Prow gaining the win.
