Scholarship honors Tucker
The family of Thomas Tucker, the Madras man killed in Iraq in 2006, has established a scholarship in his honor.
The Thomas Tucker Memorial Scholarship will go to a graduating Madras High School student, the first of which will be awarded following this school year. The scholarship will be given to an individual who plans to study music, which was a love of Tucker's.
The scholarship was established by the Tucker family by donating money received from public contributions to the family following Pvt. Tucker's death in June of 2006, said Don Reeder, a board member of the Jefferson Scholarship Foundation.
The scholarship will be managed by the Jefferson Scholarship Foundation, which pools and manages the funds of several local scholarships. The foundation committee will also select the winner.
Donations to the Thomas Tucker Memorial Scholarship are tax deductible, and can be made at the U.S. Bank (Madras Branch) Trust Department in Madras, to the Jefferson Scholarship Foundation through the local U.S. Bank branch, or at the law offices of either Paul Sumner or Don Reeder. For further donation information, contact Reeder at 475-2272.
