Poetry reading scheduled in Madras


   Poets and poetry-lovers from Madras, Fossil, Culver, and Prineville will gather on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2:30 p.m., for the 2008 William Stafford's Birthday poetry celebration.
   The celebration, cosponsored by the Friends of William Stafford and the Jefferson County Library, will be held in the Rodriguez Annex of the Jefferson County Library, at 134 S.E. E St. in Madras.
   The program is free, and the public is invited; refreshments will be served. William Stafford (1914-1993) was Oregon's Poet Laureate for many years, and one of America's most revered poets. He lived in Lake Oswego, and taught at Lewis and Clark.
