t elusive first Tri-Valley victory finally arrived for the Culver boys' basketball team.
The Bulldogs rolled past Delphian 78-44 in a Saturday home game. A night earlier, Culver nearly gave league leader Salem Academy its first loss, falling 58-55.
A busy Tri-River schedule continues with three games in six days. Culver hosts Kennedy on Thursday and travels to East Linn Christian in Lebanon on Saturday to finish up the first half of the Tri-River season. The second half starts with a trip to Western Mennonite (in Salem) on Tuesday, Jan. 15).
Culver 78, Delphian 44: The Bulldogs jumped ahead with a 27-point first quarter and kept on scoring. A 24-point third quarter clinched the victory.
Cody Tadlock led the offense with 24 points while Nevin Lewis added 22 and John Decker 11.
Salem Academy 58, Culver 55: The second quarter did the host Bulldogs in against the Crusaders, ranked third in the latest 2A coaches' poll.
Salem Academy owned a 14-8 edge which was ultimately the difference. It allowed the Crusaders to forge a 29-25 halftime lead. The Crusaders improved to 4-0 in league play (10-3 overall).
Tadlock again led the offense with 20 points while Decker added 19.
Blanchet 82, Culver 48: The Cavaliers weren't friendly hosts by putting together a 46-point second half in the Wednesday, Jan. 2, game.
