Van Wert wins film award

The Oregon Film and Video Office announced today that it will recognize the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and its Director Holli Van Wert with the 2008 Governor's Film Advocate Award, for their assistance in providing production support to the feature film "The Management."
Steve Oster, executive director of the Oregon Film and Video Office commented, "Your participation was invaluable in not only recruiting the production into Oregon, but also making sure they had a positive experience while working in Madras."
"From the production crew, to the producers to the stars themselves, this group was friendly, understanding and by far the easiest 120 people I have ever worked with all at once," commented Holli Van Wert, director of the chamber.
"Our community opened its businesses and lives to our guests and in return we made new friends," she said.
Madras played host to the filming of "The Management," starring Jennifer Aniston and Steve Zhan, for the month of November.
The chamber played a supporting roll in another well-known program in March when "MythBusters" filmed a segment at the Madras Airport.
The award will be presented at the Oregon Film Office's annual meeting on Jan. 29, in Portland.
