Workshop on reporting child abuse

A Child Abuse Reporting Community Workshop will be offered at 7 p.m., March 18, to inform parents and community members about child abuse identification, prevention, resources and reporting. Child care will be provided.
   In Oregon, there were 60,746 reports of suspected child abuse/neglect made in 2006, and 8,017 of those were confirmed.
   In Jefferson County, there were 65 victims of child abuse in 2006, and of those, 50 percent were children from birth to age 5, according to Department of Human Services information.
   The workshop is being sponsored by the Jefferson County Commission on Children and Families, J.C. Department of Human Services, J.C. District Attorney's Office, J.C. Educational Service District, J.C. School District 509-J, and Culver School District 4.
