Ponsford, Goss, Fording file for commission seat

The field of county commission candidates is up to six now -- five Republicans and one Democrat.
Democrat Walt Ponsford, county commissioner from 2003 through 2006, filed Monday to run for the seat currently held by Republican Bill Bellamy. If no other Democrat files, Ponsford will be unopposed in the May primary. Ponsford sought re-election in 2006 but was defeated by Republican John Hatfield.
Bellamy, who is seeking re-election, will have to face at least four opponents in the Republican Primary: Mike Goss, Wayne Fording, Bill Atherton and Jim Hamm. All but Hamm are former County Commission candidates.
