Late innings tough for Bulldog baseball

The seventh inning was unkind for Culver baseball.
   After one Bulldog foe expanded its lead, another scored the winning runs in 2A/1A Special District 2 action. The losses leave Culver at 1-3.
   Another challenge awaits the Bulldogs as No. 6-ranked Kennedy visits Culver on Tuesday, April 15. Before that, the Bulldogs travel to winless Delphian on Saturday. Culver also hosted Western Mennonite on Tuesday, April 8 (played after press time).
   Scio 6, Culver 5: The Loggers took advantage of their last at bat to score the winning runs on Saturday. Scio pounded out a pair of doubles to go ahead, improving to 4-1 in league play.
   The Bulldogs took earlier leads with a three-run third and two-run fifth.
   Salem Academy 6, Culver 4: The No. 1-ranked Crusaders used an insurance run in the top of the seventh to stay unbeaten in Thursday's game.
   Salem Academy jumped ahead with a three-run first and two-run third. The Bulldogs clawed back to make it a 5-4 contest going into the seventh. Nick Barany, Blake Anglen and Jeremiah Calvin all pounded out doubles for Culver.
