Nathan Gerhardt and Chance Squiemphen, it was a good time for the season's best round.
The two Madras golfers had their season low rounds at the Intermountain Conference preview meet Monday. Gerhardt shot a 76 and Squiemphen a 79 at Big River Golf Course in Umatilla, the site of the IMC district meet in May.
Gerhardt shot a 37 on the front nine and a 39 on the back. Squiemphen had his lowest nine-hole score ever, shooting a 35 on the front nine. The senior finished with a 79.
Derek Ceciliani added a 95, Kasey Johnson a 97 and Jason Gerhardt a 102.
As a team, Madras scored a 347 to finish sixth. The four lowest scores are counted. The White Buffalos finished ahead of Crook County by 12 shots and of Mountain View by 26 strokes.
State power Bend won the IMC preview with a combined 293, 16 shots ahead of Pendleton. Four Lava Bears shot in the 70s, including medalist Derek Stamos with an even-par 70.
The Buffs also hosted the Madras Invitational last Thursday at Eagle Crest's Resort Course. The hosts finished third, behind Seaside (348) and McKenzie (351) with Madras scoring a 366. Nathan Gerhardt had the low round at 85.
