Kids Club gets donation
Community First Bank presented a check in the amount of $1,000 to the Madras Kids Club as part of their "Business Community Drive for the Club."
Angie Madden, executive director of the club noted, "We really appreciate Community First Bank's support of the club. They have not only given us this very generous donation, but also support the club through volunteers. Their volunteers have provided financial literacy classes and have served on the board. We greatly appreciate all they do for us."
In January of this year, the Kids Club of Jefferson County replaced the Madras Branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Oregon.
The newly-formed Kids Club provides a place for kids to go after school and participate in athletics, arts and crafts, games and field trips.
Children can attend from 3 to 6 p.m. during the school year and are fed a hot meal everyday. The Kids Clubs also offers homework assistance, leadership programs and more. Currently the Kids Club is housed at Westside Elementary School in Madras.
Robin Freeman, president and chief executive officer of Community First Bank added, "As a part of our `partnership banking' focus with the community we recognize the value of a very important asset -- the kids. We are fully supportive of the work that the Kids Club has done and are pleased to be able to help them continue to create resources, activities, and events for the kids of Madras and Jefferson County."
