Bicyclist in stable condition after car hits her on Canyon
A 20-year-old woman is in stable condition after she was struck by a car on Southwest Canyon Road Wednesday morning.
Yulia Shutman, 20, was riding a bicycle westbound on Canyon Road near 110th Avenue at about 8:40 a.m. when the driver of a Dodge Caliber, Howard Hagge, 40, turned left on 110th Avenue. The car's passenger side collided with the woman.
Police said the Shutman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but may have suffered head injuries.
Witnesses called police and said the woman was down and unconscious after being struck by the car. She was transported to a Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Pam Yazzolino, Beaverton police spokeswoman, the driver of the car was visibly shaking after the experience and was cooperating fully with police.
Part of Canyon Road was closed for about two hours Wednesday morning as Beaverton police and the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team investigated.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash.
