Beaverton police say the arrest of a 38-year-old Portland man Sunday clears a series of theft and burglary cases in both Beaverton and Portland.

Dalmacio (Dale) Dante Bunac was lodged in the Washington County Jail and charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, first-degree theft, two counts of first-degree criminal trespass and possession of a stolen vehicle.

'There's a good possibility he will face more charges,' said Officer Pam Yazzolino, Beaverton police spokeswoman. 'There will be a great deal more investigative and forensic review effort put into this case. So far, our detectives have cleared three of our cases and two Portland cases with this arrest.'

Bunac first caught a Beaverton police officer's notice Sunday afternoon while he was driving a 2013 blue Chevrolet Silverado near Southwest 185th Avenue and ran a stop sign.

The officer ran the license plate number, and it came up as a pickup stolen from Portland, Yazzolino said.

With that information, the officer began looking for the stolen truck in the nearby neighborhood. A short time later, the officer located the truck parked with its engine running in the 15000 block of Southwest Stone Ridge Circle. Witnesses said the driver purposely ditched it and walked away.

The suspect was seen going over fences. Officers later learned the suspect convinced a woman, who discovered him in her backyard, to drive him to Washington Square.

An hour later, police responded to a suspicious person call at 5:44 p.m. near Scholls Ferry Road and Homestead Lane, where a man was spotted going through yards.

A Washington County K-9 team was called out to the scene and performed a search, locating Bunac in the 8000 block of Scholls Ferry Road. He was taken into custody without incident.

Meanwhile, police detectives were processing evidence found in the back of the stolen pickup.

During the investigation, detectives recovered a $600 Fuji Sunfire bike reportedly stolen Saturday from an open garage in the 14000 block of Southwest Opal Drive; a $75 book of 15 car wash coupons reportedly stolen Oct. 8 from an unlocked Honda Odyssey parked in the 16000 block of Southwest Cormorant Drive; and items from a purse reportedly stolen Oct. 10 from a home in the 10000 block of Southwest Shearwater Loop.

Investigators also found evidence linking the suspect to a stolen 2007 BMW 330 that Beaverton police recovered Oct. 10 after it had been ditched in the 10000 block of Southwest Oriole Circle, Yazzolino said. The BMW had been stolen Oct. 5 from a home in the 3000 block of Southeast 112th Avenue in Portland.
