Seven people were injured Tuesday afternoon when a TriMet bus driver slammed on the brakes of a line 57 bus to avoid colliding with a car.

The driver, whose name was not available as the News-Times went to press, told firefighters the car 'cut him off,' around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Quince Street in Forest Grove.

Five of the seven passengers reporting injuries to first responders were sent to area hospitals for evaluation of potential hand, wrist and knee injuries.

None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening to medical personnel at the scene.

TriMet officials said they were looking into the event, but didn't immediately have more information about the incident than what was reported by Forest Grove Fire and Rescue.
