Sherwood boys pick up soccer victories


SANDY - The Sherwood High School boys soccer team moved into a tie for third place in the Northwest Oregon Conference standings by scoring a 3-0 win over Sandy in a league match played Tuesday at Sandy High School.

With the victory, the Bowmen improved to 3-1-1 in league play (7-3-2 overall) putting in them in a tie with Wilsonville for third place in the standings. Putnam leads the league at 5-0 while Liberty is sec-ond at 4-1.

Junior Nathan Anderson and sophomore Alex Castaneda each had goals for the Bowmen in the victory at Sandy.

Prior to the win at Sandy, Sher-wood bested St. Helens 5-1 in a league match played last Thursday at Sherwood High School.

Anderson had three goals in that contest.

The Bowmen will be back in action Friday when they host Parkrose in a league tilt set to start at 7 p.m. Sherwood will finish its league schedule Tuesday when it plays at Milwaukie at 7 p.m.
