Winterhawks stop Lethbridge 4-1

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta - Four players scored goals as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-1 Friday night.

Lethbride took a 1-0 lead at 12:35 of the first quarter, but Portland goalie Mac Carruth blanked the home team the rest of the way, stopping 27 shots in all.

The Winterhawks tied the score on Taylor Peters' goal at 4:12 of the second period. At 7:51, Ty Rattie put the Hawks ahead for good with a shorthanded score. Just 1:58 later, Brendan Leipsic scored to put Portland on top 3-1 going into the third period.

Lethbridge native Brad Ross scored the final goal in the closing moments into an empty net.

Defenseman William Wrenn had two assists, giving him his second multi-point night in the past three games.

Portland continues its eastern road swing with a 6 p.m. PT Saturday game at the Kootenay Ice.
