Story Corps coming to W.S. museum

"The Story Corps," broadcast on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" each Friday, will be based at the Museum at Warm Springs, July 7-30.
This will be Story Corps' only visit to Oregon in 2011. The group comes in an Airstream trailer, outfitted as a recording studio.
Story Corps' mission is: "to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives."
The free recording sessions are informal and take about an hour. Usually they involve a local team of two: someone willing to talk about his/her life experiences, and a younger relative or friend to serve as friendly questioner and listener.
All participants receive CDs of their recorded sessions, and if they are willing to sign a release, the recordings are filed in the National Archives in the Library of Congress.
If the Story Corps editors choose a recording to broadcast on NPR, they ask the participants for permission to do so.
