NeighborImpact has opened a wait list for Home Tenant Based Assistance (HTBA) long-term rent assistance to residents of Jefferson County. The deadline to apply is June 8.
Rent assistance subsidies are for a period of one year and include a case management agreement between the agency and the households.
Assistance is expected to begin in August or September 2011 for qualifying households.
Five wait list spots will be available to renters who are at or below 50 percent of the poverty guidelines. Proof of income will be required at the time of application.
Applicants may receive assistance for a current rented house or apartment, or to move in. All dwellings must pass a Section 8 health and safety inspection.
Ten applications will be taken from eligible households who apply at NeighborImpact, 645 S.W. Marshall St., Madras, between 1 and 4 p.m., on Wednesday, June 8. Applications will not be accepted outside of those hours.
From the 10 applications, five will be drawn to be placed on a wait list. Applicants will be notified by phone of the outcome.
Proof of income will be required for all household members at the time of application.
