Group raises funds for Christmas presents
Nonprofit serving adults with disabilities hopes to raise $15,000 by Thanksgiving
Adult Learning Systems of Oregon, a Troutdale-based nonprofit that serves adults with developmental disabilities in Multnomah and Clackamas counties, is looking to give its clients some extra holiday cheer.
Community Development Director Deen Gill said the nonprofit is hoping to raise money for Christmas presents and dinners for its needy clients, who range from those who live semi-independently to those who require constant care.
Some of the clients do not have contact with their family members, so the nonprofit's care workers are the only people they see, Gill said.
Gill said the nonprofit manages 23 facilities and provides job-training programs.
The nonprofit is trying to raise $15,000 by Thanksgiving.
Donors can contribute through the Facebook page or by sending donations to Christmas Fund, 345 E. Historic Columbia River Highway, Troutdale, 97060. Gill said every amount helps.
Adult Learning Systems of Oregon is a 501c3 nonprofit; contributors should check with their tax adviser to make sure their donations are tax deductible.
