Host Lost River whips Bulldogs

Culver drops 0-2 on season
The Culver Bulldogs played two of the best Class 2A football teams in the state to open its season and lost for the second consecutive week.
Host Lost River (2-0 overall) built a 28-0 halftime lead last Friday and never looked back during a 49-0 Class 2A nonleague victory.
"They're a very good football team," CHS head coach Brian Silbernagel said of Lost River. "It's tough to be 0-2, but we've played two top-10 ranked teams."
Josue Gonzalez led Culver with 30 yards rushing. CHS quarterback Bolt Anglen was 8 of 18 passing for 71 yards. Luke Fisher reeled in four passes for 58 yards.
   Culver totaled 66 yards rushing.
The Bulldogs host Class 3A Grant Union (0-1) at 7 p.m. Friday. The Prospectors fell at Baker 48-0 last week.
"Grant Union is big and physical and we're going to have our hands full," Silbernagel said.
Culver beat Grant Union 12-6 last season.
The Bulldogs visit Vernonia Sept. 30, before starting Tri-River League play Oct. 7 at Scio.
