Children will be the focus, and sometimes the leaders, of a worship service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Madras United Methodist Church, 49 N.E. 12th St., and the public is invited.
With puppets, music, dancing and more, the organizers from Madras United Methodist Church and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd/St. Mark's Episcopal Church expect "Celebrate the Child: Learning, the Earlier, the Better" to be fun for everyone.
The service is part of both congregations' observance of Children's Sabbath, an event sponsored by the Children's Defense Fund to encourage faith communities to seek justice on behalf of children.
Resources on early childhood education and other children's services will be available. An offering will be taken and books will be collected for the Jefferson County Library District to distribute to children. Snacks will be served after the service.
