Police arrested a 21-year-old man on domestic violence-related charges Monday, Oct. 31, when he fell through the attic ceiling of an East Portland house after allegedly threatening several children and adults.
Aaron Deon Kinsey was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was then booked into Multnomah County Jail on allegations of assault in the fourth degree and harassment.
Portland police responded to a Monday morning report of a disturbance involving an intoxicated man at a house in the 15000 block of Southeast Gladstone Street. Police were told that there were up to 10 children in the house and three or four adults, including the man who was reportedly causing the disturbance.
Lt. Robert King, a Portland police spokesman, said the man had recently had a birthday and that his intoxication may have been related to a birthday celebration at his mother's home.
All of the children and adults, except for the man, had left the house by the time police arrived.
The suspect climbed up into the attic of the house and barricaded the access. As police were leaving the house, the suspect fell through the ceiling into the living room. Police then re-entered the house and took the suspect into custody.
