JROTC marksmen headed to championship contest

   Madras High School senior and JROTC cadet Andrea Guerin recently took the top award for precision shooting at the regional competition.
   At the 8th Brigade division contest, Guerin took the top award, competing against other shooters from Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Japan, American Samoa, Montana, and Nevada.
   A total of four MHS precision shooters qualified at regionals to go on to the 2012 Army JROTC Service Championship contest, Feb. 9-11, at Camp Perry in Ohio.
   The other qualifying cadets were: senior Devin McLean, sophomore Ayzia Sherer, and freshman, Alexis Urbach.
   The group is currently raising funds to pay for their air flight tickets back to the competition.
