Race raises money for Pregnancy Resource Center

Event raises $1,200

Just over 60 people participated in a 5K run, a 10K run or a 5K run/walk June 1 in Madras, hosted by the Living Hope Christian Center.
   The event raised $1,200 for the Madras Pregnancy Center.
   In the men's 5K run competition, Delrae Rhoan was the overall winner with a time of 23 minutes, 15 seconds. He was also the top finisher in the 0-39 age group. Pat Hanenkrat (30:15) was the first-place winner in the 40-and over-division.
   In the women's 5K run competition, Jannice Richardson was the first to cross in 29:24, which gave her the top spot in the 0-39 division. Teresa Baggett (30:15) was the first-place winner in the 40 and over division.
   Rick Russell (49:40) was the top male in the 5K walk for the 0-39 age group, while C.J. Bingham (42:30) was the first male in the 40-and-over group. Katie Russell (49:40) was the first female to cross the finish line in the 0-39 division for the 5K walk, while Cheryl Lohman (37:11) took top honors in the 40-and-over division.
   In the male 10K run, Mike Leecy was the overall winner with a time of 40:30. Don Courtney (55:28) was the first to finish for the 40 and over division.
   In the women's 10K, Jamie Hurd (44:49) won the 0-39 age group, while Kim Aksamit (1:09:00) was the first female to cross the finish line in the 40 and over division.
   Cascade Lavender, Rio Restaurant, Madison Coffee House, Great Earth Natural Foods, Nicky Kraus' StudioU Photography, Fedona Massage, Black Bear, Figaro's Pizza, Madras Bowl, Eagle Bakery and Pelton Park Store donated prizes, and over 20 volunteers helped with the event.
