Suspects plead not guilty to murder
The two, who have been held without bail in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility since May 31 in connection with the death of Dennis Michael Jones, 48, of Seattle, Wash., were represented by court-appointed attorneys at their arraignment. Dylan Potter, of Bend, will represent Johnson, and Dave Glenn, of Madras, will represent Anderson.
Johnson and Anderson, who appeared by video camera, are accused of the blunt-force-trauma death of Jones, whose body was spotted in an abandoned railroad tunnel behind Rainbow Market around 10:30 a.m. by a fisherman.
Jones, who was believed to have known the two men, was camping at the Mecca Flat Campground at the time of his death.
Johnson's next appearance was set for 3 p.m. on June 20, while Anderson will be in court on July 12, at 9 a.m.
