County budget passes
"It's still holding the line," said County Administrator Jeff Rasmussen, noting that the only new positions in the budget are funded through grant money secured by the District Attorney's Office.
At $37,210,796, the budget is up from last year's adopted budget of $35,301.911, but doesn't include furloughs or shortened work weeks.
For the first time in three years, the Public Works Union and Service Workers Union and other general county employees will receive a cost-of-living increase of 1.5 percent.
"We're still in negotiations with the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Association," Rasmussen said, so no increase was included in the budget.
