the second year in a row, the Jefferson County Fair Parade will be held the weekend before the fair, at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 21, this time at Sahalee Park.
Parade entry lineup for judging is at 9 a.m., and people can register at the tennis courts on 10th Street at 8:30 a.m. Jack and Marilyn Watts are the grand marshals of the parade.
Arrive early for breakfast, being put on by the Madras United Methodist Church from 8-10 a.m., at the park. The cost is $7 for adults, and $4 for kids under age 12. The menu includes ham, pancakes, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee.
Admission to the fair, which runs July 25-28, is free this year for the first time. Carnival all-day wrist bands may be purchased in advance for $20. The price goes up to $28 on opening day, July 25.
In addition to 4-H and FFA animals, the fair will feature rodeos, the Concrete Cowboys Band, special Kids Day entertainment, and a popular talent show with cash prizes.
