Fair kicks off with parade
Parade entry lineup for judging is at 9 a.m., and people can register at the tennis courts on 10th Street at 8:30 a.m. Jack and Marilyn Watts are the grand marshals of the parade.
Arrive early for breakfast, being put on by the Madras United Methodist Church from 8-10 a.m., at the park. The cost is $7 for adults, and $4 for kids under age 12. The menu includes ham, pancakes, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee.
Admission to the fair, which runs July 25-28, is free this year for the first time. Carnival all-day wrist bands may be purchased in advance for $20. The price goes up to $28 on opening day, July 25.
In addition to 4-H and FFA animals, the fair will feature rodeos, the Concrete Cowboys Band, special Kids Day entertainment, and a popular talent show with cash prizes.
